A Vintage Storage Box

When we lived in New York, one of my favourite ways to spend a Saturday was wandering about to various favourite thrift stores and flea markets. Hell's Kitchen, a great little neighbourhood, has some awesome ones. Throughout our little condo here on Simcoe Street we have some treasures we've found on those trips. Today I thought I'd show you one of my favourites.

I love monograms, love storage boxes that keep things out of sight in a pretty way, and love old things in general... so this box definitely fit the bill.

Right now, this metal box holds all of our candles and extra candleholders. It sits atop our little wine fridge next to our entertainment unit in the living room. I love how scratched up and worn it is.
The coolest thing about it is that these are actually my initials! It was so neat to find something so perfect. It made it totally worth the $20 that we spent on it.
Oh, and it had a gentleman's driver's license tucked in it, issued by the state of New York in 1926. We've kept that somewhere safe because we think it is pretty neat. And, for those interested in such things, the vendor believed these sorts of hinged boxes were used to deliver tea to restaurants around the city in the 1920s.

Thanks for visiting :)
